Twiggy is a local girl with an equally cute and sweet family!  She is just a few months old and not yet 2 pounds, so we had one of our favorite companies make a customer harness for her.  Her guardian adores hot pink combined with zebra prints, so we made it happen!  Thanks to Barry at Bessie + Barnie for outfitting this little angel.

We love ya, Twigs!  Have fun at Mommy’s Soccer Games!

Bronco loves me!

Bronco is this super cool Miniature Australian Shepherd who has a delightfully wiggly tail wag situation.  He is so smart and well behaved until he figures out that his Mom, Amber is bringing him to the Biscuit…He gets sooo excited and wiggles bounces all around!  Today, we attempted a photo shoot whilst he was enjoying a Merrick Turkey Steak Patty.  Thanks for the visit Bronco!

Dogs of the Day! 6.06.09

Introducing Bailey from Brattleboro, Vermont.  She is an 11 month old Shepherd/ Beagle Cross.  She likes to de-stuff toys, so she got a Pet’s Picnic Rope Toy (TOUGH!).  Nice to meet you, Bailey!

We also had a visit from Carl from Thomaston, Maine.  I hadn’t seen Carl in a few months and boy was I surprised to see a 95 pound dog walk in!  Puppies grow up so fast!  Carl is just over a year old and is a husky/lab cross.  He enjoys swimming and snacktime at the Biscuit!

Bisto, Liffey and Smokey are Awesome. Period.

Today, the super cool guardians of Bisto, Liffey, and Smokey visited the Biscuit to pick up some goods.  These three amigos are now rockin’ some If It Barks collars in the Bangor area.  Representin’!  So, the shopping spree was apparently followed by a fancy photo shoot.  Here are the results…

Mr. Bauer Hinsman

Bauer

7.10.97 – 4.24.09

bauer
Last night, our sweet Bauer passed away in our home, on his favorite bed.  He was a good, good dog.

Bauer, you were a life-altering dog.  Courageous, enthusiastic and athletic.  You taught us self-lessness and humility; strength and perserverence.  You never gave up and neither did we.  And, we never will.  We will miss and love you…always.
Love, Bill, Lauren, Orli, Salem and Solah

We would like to thank Dr. Sarah Noble and Dr. Douglas Kern and the ridiculously awesome staff of Portland Veterinary Specialists for giving us the gift of time.  We are eternally grateful to you all.  Bauer loved all his “ladies” at PVS.  He wore his collars proudly for you.
Thanks to Rockland Animal Hospital, Dr. D, and Marie for taking us in during a difficult time.  We are so grateful for your sympathy and support.
We would also like to thank our families for believing in Bauer’s mission and for letting us cry on your shoulders.
Thank you to Aunties Wendy H., Marie F., Dee Dee, Elizabeth G., Angelica R. and Anita K. for holding our hands and giving us strength.
We’ll miss you, Mista’ B…

Maddi Young is Pug of the Blog!

The Biscuit is proud to present today’s Dog of the Blog Award to…

Maddi Young

Pug-a-licious!

Pug-a-licious!

1. Names, Ages, Breed: My name is Maddi Young and I am 4 ½ years old.  I am very proud to be a Pug!

2. Parent (s)/favorite persons: My favorite human is my mom, Jen Young.  But I also really REALLY love my Dad, my Nanie & my uncle Chris.  They are the best!!!!

3. How you met: I met my human mom when she came to adopt a female pug in New Hampshire.  I saw her and knew we were meant to be together!  She picked me up and I cuddled into her neck and took a nap.

4. Favorite Animals: My first and foremost favorite animal is my stuffed green night-night teddy.  I’ve had teddy since I was a year old and sleep with him every night.  When it’s time to go to bed, I grab teddy off the bed and bring it out to mom so she knows its time for her to go to bed too.

Then there’s my younger sister Alamo, she’s a White Shepard.   She’s my barking buddy-mom and dad are not impressed.  Considering the size difference, we get along quite well.  She protects me when mom & dad are at work.  Her bark is scary!!

Then there’s cousin Jake (Uncle Chris’s dog), he’s a block head of a black lab.  He’s almost 10 years old and he STILL takes my toys.  He acts like a puppy.

I also love Milo, my nanie’s cat.  He’s a Persian. I’ve known Milo the longest.  He’s only 1 month older then me and we lived together for awhile.  Mom says we have the same nose.  How can that be?  Milo’s a cat!?!

I also get to see Fenway, my mom’s friends’ dog.  Fenway* is a black lab mix.  She’s visited Alamo & I a couple of times at camp-boy, she really loves the water!!!

5. What do you eat and what are your favorite snacks: I am now eating Honest Kitchen with either raw pumpkin or cooked carrots.  Once in awhile some yogurt is a good change.  I used to eat Canadae and still do once in awhile mixed in with my new food.  Mom’s branching out and finding healthier food choices for me.  She says I need to lose a few pounds.  Dad & Uncle Don feed me raw moose & deer meat during hunting season when I visit them in the shop.  This is my favorite, plus it makes my coat shine.  I wish I could stay out there with them all day, but mom won’t let me.   I will eat just about any treat that’s in front of me…. except low calorie treats.  I quickly spit those out and patiently wait for another kind.  Sometimes I’m waiting a few hours, but I eventually get what I want.

6. Favorite Activities: I love my walks, watching tv, belly rubs, cuddling with Mom on the couch, sunbathing and taking rides in the truck.  I love sticking my head out the window on nice warm days and laying next to the pellet stove on cold winter days.  I also love going to camp on the weekends.  Visit’s to Nanie’s house is always a good treat!

 7. Pet Peeves: Rain, ice cold weather, puddles, nail trims, doggy clothes,  low calorie treats.

8. Special Tricks and Talents: Flying off the couch to get to the dogs and cats on tv before they disappear.  Intentionally ignoring mom when I know what she wants me to do and I don’t want to do it. And, Hiding under the coffee table when I don’t want to go anywhere.

9. Who’s your vet?  Any one of the great veterinarians at Pen Bay Vets

10. Where do you sleep?  On the bed (and most of the time, under the covers) with mom and dad.

Grace & Jameson of Rockland, Maine

The Loyal Biscuit Co. is pleased to announce today’s Dog(s) of the Blog…

Grace & Jameson of Rockland

Grace & Jameson

Grace & Jameson

Grace and Jameson are two of our most Fashion-conscious pooches.  They can be seen wearing Bowchies and If It Barks Collars with Rockin’ Doggie Charms…all exclusively at the Loyal Biscuit Co.

1. Names, Ages, Breeds:
Jameson is a beautiful English Cocker, 7 years
Grace is an American Cocker, also lovely, and 4 years old

2. How you met:  Jameson was an immediate replacement to Rosie, my dear cocker who passed on. He came from Sanford, Maine and fell asleep in my arms amid the chaos of his 8 litter mates. I was hooked.  My daughter worked at Maine Screen Video, and I was visiting her one night when a car drove in with two cocker spaniels in it. To her dismay, I made her ask around to find the owners. She did, and it turned out that one of those dogs was pregnant! That is how we were lucky enough to find Grace.

 3. Owners/Favorite people:  They stay with me, and love my children, Isaac and Sara. They are especially fond of Sara’s boyfriend Timmy and visit him as often as possible!

4. Favorite dogs: Jameson: I love everyone   Grace: If it’s not Jamie, I could care less (yawn)

5. What do you eat and what are your favorite snacks: Usually, she makes us oatmeal for breakfast, or cheese omelets.  For dinner, we get steamed veggies, green beans, carrots and sweet potatoes with chicken and rice. Tonight she made applesauce treats, and we really liked them.

6. Favorite Activities:  Jameson: I love to play ball, tear the stuffing out of my toys, and I especially love love love anything that squeaks. Gracie: If it’s not a ball, I don’t care. (yawn)

7. Pet peeves:  Jameson: Not being first. I have to be first. Gracie: I don’t like green beans. I don’t care if Jamie goes first, however!

8. Special tricks or talents: Jameson: I eat everything. Love it love it love it. Grace: The above is code for Jamie doesn’t do tricks. I can sit pretty for a long time!

9. Where do we sleep: Jamie and Grace: Even though we have our own comfy beds, we sleep with Mom, of course!
